Modular DAQ systems

Here’s EDDIE: The Future of Modular Data Acquisition & Hardware Architecture!

Whether you are running complex lab setups, managing a remote environmental monitoring network, or trying to deploy robust industrial sensors in the field, you’ve probably run into the same old wall: the hardware gap.

For a long time, you had to choose between simple, rigid systems that couldn't scale, or incredibly complex industrial platforms that required a PhD in embedded software just to read a single sensor.

Today, we are changing the game. We are thrilled to officially unveil the EDDIE Hardware Architecture Overview Webpage! Yes, it’s a work in progress and we will add to it to show photos of components and examples but as it stands it’s a great technical overview of vision we have for Eddie’s hardware.

We hope you enjoy reading about Eddie and maybe it prompts you on ideas of how Eddie could be of use in your lab to help you overcome challenges to measurement and control. We encourage you to reach out to us anytime and share your challenges. We’d love to work with you and develop Eddie collaboratively to solve your problems.

What is EDDIE?

Developed by Bored Owl Pty Ltd, EDDIE is an ultra-modular, highly scalable hardware and software ecosystem designed to bridge the gap between experimental setups and seamless data acquisition.

Our engineering team, built EDDIE around three unbreakable pillars:
- Simplicity: Toolless assembly, interchangeable parts, and zero complex software dependencies.
- Reliability: Built tough to handle mechanically, electrically, and thermally diverse environments. It just works in the field.
- Affordability: Packed with maximum native functionality so you get real value without hidden costs.

Inside the Ecosystem: Hubs, Probes, Pods, and Peas

On our new webpage, we break down the modular architecture that makes EDDIE so uniquely powerful. The system scales effortlessly using four distinct layers:
• Hubs: The multithreaded brains of the operation, packing serious computing power and diverse connectivity (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, CAN, RS232/485, and more).
• Uniprobes: Intelligent, daisy-chainable edge units running on our robust K4net CAN bus standard.
• Pods: I2C peripheral expansion modules natively compatible with industry favourites like QWiiC and PiicoDev.
• Peas: "Dumb" but crucial analog conditioning blocks that pre-amplify and protect your incoming signals.

Ready to Deploy? Meet the Foundation Series (Release 1)

We aren't just talking about concepts—the EDDIE Foundation Series is real, physical, and ready for early adopters right now! Our new webpage features a complete, interactive breakdown of our launch components, including:
- microEDDIE Hubs (Basic & Pro): Your isolated USB-C gateway to data collection.
- Specialized Uniprobes: From the MH1 Motor Controller to the B1 Battery Charger (run your entire rig on LiFEPO4 and solar!).
- Isolated Peas: Safeguard your gear with the PeaI current sensor and PeaDV differential voltage module, isolated completely from the main supply.
